ONTAP S3 configuration workflow
Summary
The Ontap S3 documentation is not easy to follow, and is often confusing to new users especially when differentiating between remote and local cluster tiering.
#1 - Add a separate workflow for remote and cluster tiering configuration
#2 - Please add two sections with the content from TR-4814 for consolidated workflows:
2a. Configuration for native S3 applications and remote cluster tiering
2b. Configuration of local cluster tiering
CLI and System Manager processes should be included. System Manager automates much of the configuration, but it's not documented all the steps it's taking in that automation.
On this page: https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap/s3-config/create-s3-object-store-server-task.html
I don't believe this is correct (under CLI steps)
"If you are configuring local tiering, the SVM name can either be a data SVM or system SVM (cluster) name."
For local tiering - doesn't the cluster SVM have to be used in order to tiering using the cluster LIFs? Otherwise wouldn't it be the same as remote tiering using intercluster LIFs?
