Saving destroyed my entire file

So, I was almost done with my animation, and I saved it... Then it crashed, and now I can't even open it anymore because I get an error:

1. 82 : evfileio.cpp : loadEVFile()
   Incompatible or incomplete data
2. 127 : evfileio.cpp : loadEVFile()
   Error while reading from file /home/USER/Downloads/FOLDER/cultures.friction

I guess there is no way to recover from this...

Sucks, solid 5 hours down the drain.

Either way, I included the friction file as an attachment, in case there is any use of it.

With alot of issues I'm able to load something, but it's probably not complete (are the mores scenes? did you use audio?).

The crash happened during writing so I'm having problems reading the second scene.

There is no audio, but there was indeed another scene...

I really appreciate the effort to restore, but the restoration is missing the pertinent elements. I already recreated it. It turned out to be a bit better than the original.

The moral of the story is always enable "backup on save". But I hope this incident can be useful in preventing future save corruption. Honestly, I think this had something to do with a non-promoted node, which didn't allow itself to be moved without crashing, and when I finally got it working (by promoting the node), it then corrupted the save.

Backup on save should probably be enabled by default, or at least be an option during "quick setup".

Also note that RC3 has some bad crash bugs, they have been resolved in our main branch, soon to be released as RC4. You can download our CI builds from https://linux.ci.friction.graphics

We will move to a new XML based project format soon, it will be introduced in v1.1 (and default in v1.2).

I think this had something to do with a non-promoted node, which didn't allow itself to be moved without crashing, and when I finally got it working (by promoting the node), it then corrupted the save.

Thanks for this information, I have traced the crash to the interpolate functon and have implement a fix.

The restored mod1 project file has the faulty object so I was able to recreate the crash
