BiModal Design v3.0 — White Paper
BiModal Design v3.0 reframes the framework from the original binary "human vs. agent" model (AgentUX v2.x) into a comprehensive design discipline for the full agent capability spectrum.
What's new in v3.0
- Agent Capability Spectrum — a six-level taxonomy (Level 0 HTTP Retrievers → Level 5 Protocol-Native) replacing the binary human/agent model, plus cross-cutting Hybrid Agents that hand off from UI to API/MCP.
- Defense in Depth — five architectural layers (Content Accessibility → Semantic Structure → Structured Data → API Surface → Agent Protocols) ensuring graceful degradation across every agent type.
- Agent protocol integration — guidance for MCP, A2A, and NLWeb, including async MCP Tasks (2025-11-25 spec).
- Standards-first with supplementary agent attributes — schema.org, WAI-ARIA, and OpenAPI as the primary semantic layer, with
data-agent-*retained as a supplementary layer for agent intent/actions. - Production resilience — DOM selector drift defenses, DOM context optimization for browser-use agents, and AOM/ElementInternals patterns for computer-use agents.
- Expanded benchmarks & GEO — Operator, Project Mariner, UFO², MCP-Universe, OSWorld, WebArena, and Generative Engine Optimization guidance.
Core docs
FR-1 (Initial Payload Accessibility) remains the foundation — now understood as Layer 1 of a broader defense-in-depth strategy rather than the whole framework.
Supersedes the legacy AgentUX v2.1 release. The framework has been rebranded to BiModal Design.
