  • Changes comply with the maintainer guide.
  • SHA512s are updated for each updated download.
  • The "supports" clause reflects platforms that may be fixed by this new version, or no changes were necessary.
  • Any fixed CI baseline and CI feature baseline entries are removed from that file, or no entries needed to be changed.
  • All patch files in the port are applied and succeed.
  • The version database is fixed by rerunning ./vcpkg x-add-version --all and committing the result.
  • Exactly one version is added in each modified versions file.

@dg0yt As you added this port in #35053: Was there a specific reason to use the Suite archive instead downloading it from GitHub repo?

The official documented source code location according to https://scipopt.org/index.php#download is not on GitHub

Yeah, but below there are multiple links to GitHub, e.g. for Bug Reports. And yes, it's not entirely clear whether these are just official GitLab mirrors or if they've since switched to them - for example, there's a note about this on scip, but pull requests have since been accepted as well. However, since we also use mirrors for other projects (e.g., KDE), I think that should be okay.

I can't answer this from memories, and I will not compare source archives now.

It's up to what upstream maintainers want. They seem to be pretty explicit in wanting to host it themselves to track download statistics and similar, the downloads page has:

Download form
The number of SCIP downloads is tracked and used to generate statistics about the downloads and to generate the world map of download locations. The personal information is used to distinguish the number of downloads from the number of users per year that might download more than one version or archive. In addition to the privacy statements of ZIB, we hereby declare that your name and affiliation recorded for the SCIP download is used for purposes of granting licenses and for statistics about software downloads, and is processed and stored on our server for the duration of a year.

Is there a specific reason to switch to the GitHub mirror (e.g. upstream server is unreliable?)
